Puerto Rico Launches City Lighting Plan with Solar Street Lights

A major urban illumination project is underway across Puerto Rico as officials move to replace outdated lighting fixtures and bring light to long-neglected dark areas.

“We are changing all the lights and we want to illuminate other dark areas,” a spokesperson for the municipal initiative said.

We supplied high-quality solar street lights for the city-wide upgrade. The new fixtures not only replace aging, energy-intensive lamps but also expand coverage to shadowed streets, parks, and public spaces that have remained poorly lit for years.

The solar-powered system is expected to improve public safety, reduce energy costs, and support the island’s push toward sustainable infrastructure. Installation crews have already begun retrofitting existing poles, with plans to add new standalone units in previously unlit zones.

Residents have welcomed the move, noting that better lighting brings a renewed sense of security and community pride after dark. The full rollout is slated for completion by the end of the year.
